A quiet mid century portrait study of a seated figure in a white shirt, head turned in profile, hands resting in the lap. The paint is worked in broad, sweeping strokes and the figure is pared right back. A still, contemplative potrait that is very much of the Scandinavian modernist tradition.

Carl Marcus Larsson (1918 to 1987) was a Swedish painter born in Eskilstuna. He trained at Otte Sköld's school and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, and held his first solo exhibition at Galerie Aesthetica, Stockholm, in 1953. A self-portrait of 1953 is in the collection of Eskilstuna Art Museum.
