A bold and energetic mid-century expressionist landscape in oil, depicting a dramatic sweep of terrain, possibly mountains, valleys and sky, broken down into thick, rhythmic blocks of colour. Deep greens, earthy browns, flashes of cobalt blue and warm ochres are laid down with real confidence, while a pale, sweeping sky anchors the upper half of the composition.
This painting has wonderful presence and texture, with heavy impasto throughout.
