A quietly atmospheric mid century landscape of rounded trees standing along a riverbank, their forms softly reflected in the still water below. Painted with loose, confident brushwork in a muted palette of silvery greys, deep greens, and subtle touches of blue, ochre, and pink.

Signed by Swedish artist Olof Arén (1918-2003)
Arén trained under Isaac Grünewald and Fritiof Schüldt at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in the early 1940s, and travelled widely across Europe before holding his first solo exhibition in Stockholm in 1953. His work spans landscapes, cityscapes, still lifes, and abstract compositions. Many of his paintings are presented in frames he crafted himself.
